Does any actually like Asian Pears? I hate them. I would say they are my least favorite fruit. However they are always packaged so nicely and expensive and everyone treasures their tree in their backyard. Does anyone actually like Asian Pears, what do you like about them. |
Yes, they are nice and crispy.
Bartletts are only good when they're ripe and mushy. |

I live North of Dallas Tx, what soil additive should I use to grow asian pears? My soil is clay. Thanks? I have 3 container grow asian pear trees that I want to plant, do I need to add anything to the clay soil to promote a healthy tree? |
| There are several good soil additives but I think the experts agree that if you can only add one, use shredded redwood bark. |
What is the difference between Asian pears and American Pears? If there is one. |
| asian pears look more like apples, they are much more crunchy than american ones and the taste is a little different. i personally like both equally but the asian ones are very good :) |
How can I reach to pick all the asian pears on my tree? They are too high up.? Even a ladder is too short. |

Have you tried those asian pears, or some people call them apple pears? I live in West Texas, so we don't always get a large variety of fruit, so when I discovered this particular fruit, I fell in love at first bite. They're simply divine! Anyone know of any other fruits that aren't readily available in all areas, that I can order online? |
If you're looking for different fruit tastes/flavors/textures, here's a few suggestions:
Sapote - An apple shaped fruit that softens as it ripens, with a soft, creamy texture.

Passion Fruit - Gets dark purple and wrinkled as it ripens, cut open and scoop out the aromatic yellow "jelly" from the center

Guava - Comes in two typical species, strawberry and pineapple. Pineapple guava are football shaped and green, cut them in half, and scoop out the insides. Strawberry guava are round, yellow, and are eaten by peeling the skin first, or chewing the whole guava and spitting out the skin.

Loquats: Another creamy, custardy fleshed fruit, related to pears, quince, etc. Has a thin, fuzzy skin which is peeled, and several large seeds. Bite the top off, peel the skin from the flesh, slurp of the meat and spit for distance with the seeds! I couldn't find any online source for these, in a short google search.

Were asian pears the idea of man? asian pears are basically "apple pears" as we call them in canada.. Pears that look similar to apples.. Are they a man made hybrid or are they completely natural? Where are they grown? |
| I believe they are hybrids and are grown world wide in countries that can or do grow them. |
